August 5th,2012 Bellyup show

Caught the show last night at the Bellyup just north of San Diego.  Have seen the band 20 plus shows since 1984.  Once again the boys put on an energetic, fun, professional, tight show.  This is the second time I have seen them with Rich back on bass. Its still amazing for a long time fan like me to experience seeing him in the band.  It seems to me they are re-energized with Mike back on lead, Rich's vocals, and Rich's bass playing.  What a treat to hear songs like Tell It To Carrie, and I Cant Wait Till I See you Again played live.  They ALL look like they are having fun and are truly on top of their game.  Was a pretty decent, energertic crowd for a Sunday night too!  Great time had by all!

I saw the Romantics play the show in Dixon on May 10.  I  was struck by the fact I had never heard Mike play lead on Talking in Your Sleep or Rock You Up, and that the band was so close to their original line up.  The boys played tight and seemed to really enjoy themsleves, as did the audience.  It was a great show.

I just saw them Sunday in Madison, WI at Taste of Madison.  It was a pretty cool setup, right on the street on the grounds of the State Capitol building.  Several hundred (I'd guess 500-600 people watching the show and others walking by or stopping by for parts.  The crowd did not dwindle and actually grew as the show went on.  This was the 2nd show I have seen since Rich replaced Coz in the lineup and I have to agree with Rob, the band was tight and energetic and sounded really good.  They played about 75 minutes and then returned for around a 12 minute encore of the MC5 song they always like to close with ("Tonight"?).

I got to meet Rich for the first time after the show and he was very gracious and friendly.  He seemed to really enjoy talking to us.
