Re-Recorded Single?

Did you guys see/hear this?

Very interesting to hear new vocals on "What I Like About You," but I wonder what prompted them to re-record it? Odd. "Talking" sounds like a remix, with some added instrumentation and a hard stop ending instead of a fadeout. It's also about 20 seconds longer than the original.

It's very obvious both songs were re-recorded entirely if you listen closely.Maybe they had to do it for legal reasons?

Yeah, that's definitely not Mike's booming voice on "What I Like About You." But I can't imagine any legal reasons, unless by pushing this version they might save on the amount of royalties they have to give Jimmy when the song is licensed? I can't claim to understand all the intricacies involved in licensing, so maybe you're onto something there.

I'll say one thing ... those are damn good reproductions. Eerily spot on, which is impressive even considering they play those songs constantly on stage.

To my own "muscian's ear",WILAY was entirely rerecorded. As for TIYS,I'd say the drums and bass guitar are the original tracks, and the guitars and vocals are new.
Am I close?

Apparently the guys wanted to see if they could top the Guitar Hero versions!
And Kevin, I believe that you are close, but not close enough in your estimation.

What's up with this listing on iTunes?  The album "Live On Stage" by the Romantics is a bunch of early '60's songs by various artists, none of which are the Romantics.  Angry Did anyone else see that?  Here's what's on it:

I did see that a while ago.  Strange!  I'm not sure how itunes does things, but obviously it shouldn't be there!

They just used the new version of WILAY on the show Chuck.  It is the episode Cuck vs The Wedding Planner.  You can catch it on NBC.com if you missed it!

Makes sense, as Wally has been singing it live now since Dave Petratos left 20 years ago.

I really want to buy these songs on an official release that is a silver factory pressed CD. My Bose system doesn't play the CD-Rs. Perhaps if The Romantics release a new live CD as I suggested, they could add these two studio tracks to the end of the disc?

Please put your heads together, everyone!

Sounds like they might have used some of the original instrumental tracks and re-mixed them from scratch. Obviously new vocals.
