In 1960, after completing his national service and flying back to America, Elvis Presley stepped on British soil for the first and only time in his life when the plane carrying him stopped for refuelling at Prestwick Airport, Scotland.

In 1953 when Hank Williams died of a heart attack brought on by a lethal cocktail of pills and alcohol, he was at No.1 on the country charts with 'I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive.'

The record for the most consecutive No. 1s in the UK singles charts is held by The Beatles, who had 11 hits in a row between 1963 and 1966 (from "From Me to You" through to "Yellow Submarine").

Interesting side note about this,(I'm sure you other Beatle-fanatics know this.)The Beatle song that failed to reach #1 that ended the streak of consecutive hits was "Strawberry Fields Forever".The song it couldn't knock out of the #1 spot was " Release Me" by Engelbert Humperdinck.Go figure.
