Top 10: Cities To Meet Models
Feb 18th, 2006 at 8:28am

Number 10

Aspen - Snowmass Village
The hills are alive with models at Aspen, one of North America's premiere ski destinations. Long known for its plentiful snowfall and well-groomed trails, Aspen and its main village are now a model mecca with major celebrity fetes being thrown nearly every night. From Heidi Klum to Kate Moss (both of whom were spotted there recently), you can't throw a snowball without hitting someone famous.

What not to miss: Enjoy a little après-ski at the ultra trendy Caribou Club. A favorite of the Donald's, the high-scale restaurant has been termed "the best private club in America" by the New York Post. Who are we to argue?

Number 9

Tokyo - Shinjuku
When international models want to get freaky in Tokyo, they head to Shinjuku, the city's overwhelmingly busy business and shopping district. In addition to housing some of Japan's most towering skyscrapers, Shinjuku is also home to Tokyo's red light and gay nightclub districts and a mind-numbing number of shopping options. The throngs of people that descend ensure there's no room and no escape, which means you could just rub up against a gorgeous model... over and over again. Then again, you could also rub up against a guy with an eye patch and two teeth. The rewards and risks are yours.

What not to miss: Get an unforgettable taste of Japanese culture in Kabukicho, Tokyo's pleasure quarter. This notorious adult entertainment district leaves nothing to the imagination.

Number 8

Paris - Quartier Latin
This gorgeous French district dates back to the 13th century. These days, the Quartier Latin is one of Paris' hippest neighborhoods full of beautiful young models, as well as students from the nearby Sorbonne University. In case you have trouble differentiating between the two groups, keep in mind the models are the ones who actually shave their armpits.

What not to miss: Since most models prefer to look at pretty pictures than read, you might want to head over to the Musée Cluny -- one of the world's finest museums. Even if you don't bump into a model, you'll at least get to enjoy a priceless collection of statuary and illuminated manuscripts.

Number 7

London - Soho
Nestled between Oxford Street to the north and Piccadilly Circus to the south, Soho is the embodiment of all things cool and cosmopolitan in London. The shops are trendy, the bars are hip and the vibe is decidedly raw and edgy. It's no wonder that A-list models like Liz Hurley are drawn to this area and its vibrant late-night lifestyle.

What not to miss: Kate Moss and Sadie Frost have been known to bump and grind on Wednesday night's Death Disco at Notting Hill Arts Club -- one of Soho's coolest bars. Get there before 8 p.m. and it's free. Lonely... but free!

Number 6

Cannes - La Croisette
Every May this picturesque French city plays host to Hollywood's biggest powerbrokers, as it proudly presents the Cannes International Film Festival. Luxury is the name of the game as models -- and the men who lust after them -- cruise down La Croisette in their new-edition Lamborghinis . Even if you're struggling just to meet the monthly payments on your scooter, you can still enjoy the plethora of up-and-coming models who vie for attention on Cannes' eye-opening topless beaches. Hey, maybe the French aren't so bad after all.

What not to miss: This year's film festival takes place from May 17 until May 28 and includes the world premiere of The Da Vinci Code. Tell every model you meet you're a "producer" and you might even score.

Number 5

Miami - South Beach
Bikinied rollerbladers, classic cars and a complete abandonment of shame are the order of the day in Miami 's most sizzling destination. Home to some of the world's hardest hard bodies, South Beach is a popular spot for commercial photo shoots, thanks to its endless sun and charming art deco architecture. And when cameras are clicking, the models can't be far behind.

What not to miss: When the rich and famous need to get away from it all they retire to the Delano Hotel, South Beach's swankiest boutique establishment.Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and many others have been spotted sipping drinks in the Delano's backyard pool area, which also contains private cabanas, a pool with underwater classical music and a private beach area.

Number 4

Monte Carlo - The Golden Ring
Models and celebrities alike flock to the world's luxury capital every year to enjoy a slice of life on the French Riviera. If you want to see them up close, you'd be well advised to visit the so-called "Golden Ring," a sumptuous area delimited by Monte Carlo avenue, Avenue des Beaux Arts and the Allee des Lumières. More than just a well-appointed neighborhood, the Golden Ring is also home to a stunning array of exclusive shops, including those of Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Chanel, Bulgari, Cartier, Chopard, and many more. It's also a favorite haunting ground for well-heeled celebrities like Naomi Campbell.

What not to miss: Since it's a well-known fact that models flock to fast cars like moths to a flame, you might want to plan your visit to coincide with the world-renowned Monaco Grand Prix. The event takes place from May 25 until May 28 and attracts a who's who of international celebrities. So long as you don't admit you drive a Pinto, you should be fine.

And the top 3 are.....

Number 3

New York - Tribeca
Long one of New York's ritziest neighborhoods, Tribeca is home to top-tier celebrities like Mariah Carey and Heather Graham , as well as plenty of runway models who refuse to wake up for less than $10,000 a day. Located just south of SoHo, this former commercial area saw its population explode in the 1970s from 243 residents to 5,101. These days, it plays host to a colorful medley of upscale galleries, fine restaurants and the occasional sighting of residents Gisele Bundchen and Czech beauty Karolina Kurkova -- one of the youngest models ever to grace the cover of Vogue.

What not to miss: If you're looking for star power you can't go wrong with the Tribeca Grill, a restaurant owned by actors Robert De Niro, Sean Penn, Ed Harris, and Bill Murray. On a good night, the trendy resto is brimming with even more models than a rehab center.

Number 2

Milan - Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
No trip to Milan is complete without a stroll down the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II -- a glassed-in street bustling with cafes, restaurants and beautiful women. More than just a shining example of Neoclassical architecture, it's also the perfect spot from which to observe the passeggiata -- a cultural institution in which Milan's jet set "walk out" in their evening finery. Perhaps if you were wearing more than a Mickey Mouse shirt and Zubaz shorts you'd be invited to join in too.

What not to miss: If you're looking to cozy up with a model, you can't go wrong with Makia. The ultra chic bar is frequented by many of the modeling industry's most famous faces.

Number 1

Los Angeles - Sunset Boulevard
After a busy day in front of the cameras, the world's top models pack their Shih Tzus into their handbags and head home along Sunset Boulevard. Easily one of the world's most famous streets, the Boulevard serves as a gateway into Beverly Hills before eventually winding down into the crystal-blue Pacific. As you motor along, you'll see plenty of famous faces and places.

What not to miss: Check out the star power as you stroll along the lobby of the Beverly Hills Hotel. The so-called "pink palace" was featured on the cover of the Eagles' megahit, Hotel California.
