Have the Romantics ever tried a more serious song?
Sep 4th, 2005 at 12:41pm

The Romantics are one of rock's all-time great fun bands.  Their music is light and fun....no heavy message, no in-your-face politics.  Their music is party music, the way rock 'n roll was intended to be.

That being said, have the Romantics ever tried tackling more seriously-themed music just for a change of pace...or to express what they were feeling about the world?   Have they ever written or recorded any songs tackling serious social and political issues before?

I remember reading a quote from Jimmy Marinos during the In Heat days about that subject. I still have the article somewhere, but I'll paraphrase as best I can as finding it may prove difficult. He said something to the effect of, "We don't write about spaceships and flying monkeys because that's not what motivates us. What motivates us are women, so that's usually what we write about. Heck, I'm a Romantic. You should see the way I kiss."

I swear I am not making that up ...
