I have a couple buds coming over and my son Jeff and a few of his friends will be here as well. I'm whipping up a giant pot of some fired up chili which will contain cayenne, home grown crushed red pepper that is REALLY hot, some jalepenos, and a few dashes of Franks extra hot hot sauce for good measure. Also will have some New York gourmet hot dogs (my mom is a QVC junkie and orders food all the time), some hot wings, and to offset all the fat and cholesteral, a raw veggie platter. Still have some of my Sam Adams chocolate bock left from christmas time as well as plenty of Blue Moon belgian ale and plenty of Labatts light. Go Eagles!

It's great as are most of the Sam Adams beers. It is not sweet. It tastes like a good full flavored bock. It is not nearly as bitter as a regular bock and has just a hint of chocolate in the aftertaste. I bought one at christmas time and liked it so much that I went back and picked up a few more bottles, even at that steep price. I have two bottles left.

Very cool.

I like Bocks and darker beers. I've been told it's because they are less "hoppy".... Smiley

We bought a bottle, but at $15 a bottle, we're saving it for a nice occasion... Smiley  (do you know how long it will stay good?

I wonder if they still have any?

Is it stronger than regular beer?

I thought that I would bring this thread up again!  What's everyone doing tomorrow?  Anything exciting?  Especially those who live in MI!  Anyone going to the Superbowl?

And what about those parties!  I think the Playboy Party is tonight and so is the Maxim Party!  My girl-friend from the Talking In Your Sleep video is in MI now and I'm so jealous!  Not because of MI, but because of the parties!  Actually, the Taste of the NFL and the NFL Experience is the best!  Well, I will have to wait until next year when it is in my own backyard!

I take it that you have never tried the "veggie-balls" before!  That might have been a good suggestion to try some first!  Kind of like the Tofurkey!
I'll send you some of my Lentils for tomorrow!

I am having pretty much the same stuff as last year from my previous post, plus some spinach dip and crackers, some shrimp cocktail, and a few different types of chicken wings (blazing hot, garlic, barbecue, teriyaki), and of course plenty of cold beer (a bunch of different micro brews plus some Blue Moon  and Sam Adams). Hope it's a good game and not a blowout and maybe my numbers will come up in one of my squares. Have a good time everyone!

Didn't get a chance to post before the Super Bowl,
But I made an awesome pot of chili. Smiley

Maybe we ought to have a Romantics Chili cook-off sometime?! Smiley

Mine has a slow heat that sneaks up on you, as well as a few "secret spices" to sweeten and warm up the flavor.

The first batch I made 2 weeks ago was a bit too hot-- (I accidentally put in a 10 oz. can
of Chipotle peppers-- it could have not only peeled paint, I think if you ate it, you'd have no stomach lining any more... LOL)

Come on! You have to fire it up a little or it isn't chili. My super bowl chili had a GENEROUS dose of cayenne pepper as well as a hefty amount of dried habaneros. Even the diced tomatoes I used come with garlic and jalapenos right in the can. In fact, the beans I used came in a hot chili sauce and I used hot mexican tomatoe sauce as well. The thing that really gave it added flavor was the mexican oregano. Fantastic flavor!

Old Friend-- my hubby & I just built a deck this year.

We may need a chili cook-off around Memorial Day... :-D
Ummmm the 1st pot of chili was too potent. I think I could kill a raccoon if I left it outside.  10 oz. can of Chipotles (soaked in red hot Adobo sauce) PLUS a can of tomatoes with Jalapenos, PLUS chili powder, plus Cayenne pepper, plus red peppers (sweet ones, but peppers, none-the-less) = a recipe for chili that would require 2 bottles of pepto bismol and numerous (painful) trips to the bathroom... Remember, the chili was made in a 5 quart crock-pot.  If you look at the ingredients, that means that it was about 11 - 15% hot peppers.....

Bookies:  I originally made mine with beans only, but then I added meat to tone down the hotness. It's good either way. Smiley
I also have some secret spices that I add to enhance the flavors (NO, nothing illegal, sorry!)

I have never tasted a chili that was too hot for me. I never tried to make it meatless. What would you use in place of meat? This batch I just made for superbowl sunday I used ground turkey instead of beef. Tasted great. No one knew the difference. If you use a lot of different spices, it will still be good. Bookies, do you eat turkey?

Oh.. Well then, I can give you the frozen remains of my original batch (I kept it to use as a starter for future batches. Smiley

I LOVE spicy, but a whole can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce was even a bit much for me. Smiley

I've used ground turkey as well. For some reason, thought the frozen ground turkey usually tastes better (the fresh
can sometimes have a very strong turkey taste, that doesn't hide well, even in sauces and soups.)

Oldfriend have you ever made a white chicken chili? That may be my next experiment. Smiley

OK, I have to dig it out!  I think McCormick has a packet of the seasoning that you add your white beans and either chicken or turkey!  It's fast, easy and good!  I like to use pulled turkey or chicken, but you can cube them also!

I can't use pre-packed spices. they usually contain onion that would make my hubby miserable....
I usually make my soups from scratch... Smiley

There is a restaurant in Boca Raton that makes the best turkey chili!  Now I'm getting hungry!  It's called Khaki's in case anyone is interested!
