Motor City Rockers CD
Aug 7th, 2004 at 5:05am

For any of you who don't have the Rollin And Tumblin CD from Jimmy Marinos early 90's band, Motor City Rockers, I noticed there are two of them for sale on Ebay.  One starts at just $2.99.  It actually isnt half bad, and is a must have for any Romantics fan.  It has some decent songs on it like Sexbomb, which the Romantics added to their live shows when Jimmy briefly returned to the band  in '96 or '97.

Rob,

What is the general sound of the album?  Romantics-ish?

Some of the songs definitely sound Romantics'ish, and then there are others which sound like late'80's glam rock.  But, overall it is a pretty good/entertaining album.  I think it is a must own if you are a Romantics fanatic, and/or a Jimmy Marinos fan.

gbabyjr,

If you don't manage to get your copy through e-bay, you can order one at www.motorcityjams.com.  That is where I got mine.

I really like the cd.  It is a "no apologies", straight forward rock and roll album.  With Jimmy's lead vocals, its tracks would have fit well on the Romantics first, second and fourth albums.

Rob,

Did you have a chance to see the Romantics during Jimmy's brief return to the group?

Dennis,

Yes, I did, here in San Diego. I believe it was 1996 or 1997.  Linda?   I remember being shocked to see Jimmy behind the drum kit.  This was before there was any Romantics information on the internet so I had no idea he was back.  He sounded as good as ever.   I also got the chance to see him with the band in San Diego in 1984...and let me say it has never been the same without him.

Rob,

I totally agree!  My girlfriend and I went to a Romantics show in Harrisburg, PA (Club Met) and almost passed out when we saw Jimmy behind the drums!  What an exciting surprise.  He was the best...and I don't think there will ever be a 'replacement'.

I managed to snag it for 2.99!!!  I look forward to hearing it.  I have heard very little of The Motor City Rockers stuff.

Brew, are you implying that my review is only worth 2 cents??   Wink

Actually, I will definitely post my review once I receive my CD.

A penny for your thoughts is the traditional rate.  Wink
But I know everyone likes to put in their two-cents worth.  I think that I would pay at least a nickel for your thoughts on the MCR cd.

I'll take the nickel.  I just don't think I can do  it for a penny (or 2).  I'll give the  best darn nickel review you ever heard.
