Thought for the Day
Apr 12th, 2004 at 7:12pm

I just read this on one of the Yahoo group members profile and loved it so much I thought maybe we would like to start an inspirational/words of wisdom thread.  Anyhow today's thought is:

"You miss 100% of the shots you never take"
-Wayne Gretzky

thanks Pac-Man  (i hope i am giving credit where credit is due)

Pretty much my theory on life.
Back in my "former life" I realized life didn't pass me by.
I passed IT by.
I was too busy escaping from it.
Now, I enjoy it far too much and am living it
like the "Bonus Round".
Back to work today and I'm actually looking forward to it!
Too crazy of a weekend.

"Somewhere Between A Flower And A Chainsaw"

Meaning...some days I am colorful, more rooted
and can just sway in the breeze of life...
other days I am loud, aggressive and will
slice, dice and cut everything around me to pieces.

I adopted this term in my sober life...
Today, I am leaning more toward chainsaw.

Here's a funny little one I say...
(or used to, before everybody got SO SERIOUS)

"If it ever comes down to a hostage situation, I know the first 10 bodies I'm throwing out the window!"

OR...

"I won't kill ALL the hostages!"

They don't find it as humorous there these days.
Darn terrorists have to wreck all my good material!

Have a great day...

People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered.
Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
The biggest person with the biggest ideas can be
shot down by the smallest person with the smallest mind.
Think big anyway.
What you spend years building may
be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
People really need help but may attack if you help them.
Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you have
and you might get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

Always one of my favorites...
"Boris"

Kids Who Are Different

Here's to the kids who are different,
The kids who don't always get A's,
The kids who have ears twice the size of their peers,
And noses that go on for days...
Here's to the kids who are different,
The kids they call crazy or dumb,
The kids who don't fit, with the guts and the grit,
Who dance to a different drum...
Here's to the kids who are different,
The kids with the mischievous streak,
For when they have grown, as history's shown,
It's their differences that make them unique.

Music is well said to be the speech of angels;
in fact, nothing among the utterances allowed to man
is felt to be so divine.
It brings us near to the infinite.

OIAM, that was very beautiful and inspirational.  Here is a quote that best describes my feelings on music:

I removed the post.
Gotta keep it safe for the "kids."
Which by the way, I think we are an older demographic here.
Nevertheless, maybe for continuity sake you should now edit yours?

Done.

I really liked that one, though.  Sad  The benefit the "kids" could get from that far outweigh the questionable language, in my opinion.

"Mother, do you think they'll drop the bomb?
Mother, do you think they'll like the song?
Mother, do you think they'll try to break my balls?
Ooh ah,
Mother, should I build a wall?

Mother, should I run for president?
Mother, should trust the government?
Mother, will they put me in the firing line?
Ooh ah,
Is it just a waste of time?

Hush now baby, baby, don't you cry.
Mamma's gonna make all of your nightmares come true,
Mamma's gonna put all of her fears into you,
Mamma's gonna keep you right here, under her wing.
She won't let you fly, but she might let you sing,
Mamma's gonna keep baby cosy and warm.
Oooh babe, Oooh babe, Oooh babe,
Of course Mamma's gonna help build the wall.

Mother, do you think she's good enough, for me?
Mother, do you think she's dangerous, to me?
Mother, will she tear your little boy apart?
Ooh ah,
Mother, will she break my heart?

Hush now baby, baby, don't you cry.
Mamma's going to check out all your girlfriends for you,
Mamma won't let anyone dirty get through,
Mamma's gonna wait up until you get in.
Mamma will always find out where you've been,
Mamma's gonna keep baby healthy and clean.
Oooh babe, Oooh babe, Oooh babe,
You'll always be baby to me.

Mother, did it need to be so high?"

True, I think most of the photos of him were from his experimental years when he was trying to find himself.

The punk phase was most likely from those awkward teen years we never saw.

still keeping in mind another one I learned in recovery...

LA DA, Boris....
I KNOW what jocularity means...
I was trying to be humorous....  you don't need to be a bone head about it. (get it, humorous/humerus?)

I also find your 2nd comment extremely offensive--I would appreciate it if you would delete it from your post.

RELAX!  Where's your legbone...I mean sense of humor?

The comment is much more humerus than offensive, albeit a bit boneheaded.

I am relaxed and I do have a sense of humor, Brew.

That's why I'm asking Boris to exercise some
good judgement and to remove that part post himself,
even though, as a moderator, I could do it myself.

To me, it was a comment made in very poor taste.

In a feeble attempt to please the masses(?)...
One thing about me...when I am told (ordered) to do something...
I usually do it my way as a compromise.
I bow to Thee Oh Almighty Pink Leather clad moderator.
Consider me to be less visible around here as a result.
Maybe you should just delete me as well.

ok kids, break it up!
sheesh!!! i leave here for an hour and we have dissention amongst the ranks.
boris, i am not sure which comment was being referred to as being offensive.
please IM it to me.
i admit, sometimes we could use a little more humor around here as long as its not at the expense of others.
boris, we need you!

Boris,

I appreciate your moderating your own post (in your own manner, of course).   I COULD have deleted it, but since I figured you'd understand why the post would be offensive to me, I asked you to delete it yourself.

No one has asked you to leave. You haven't done anything to warrant being banned from the site.

I have just as much fun bantering with your wits as anyone else,  but when it hits a sensitive nerve (insert Boris-ism here) then the fun has stopped and it's no longer humor.  Do you know what I mean?

To me it is like feeding someone with a deadly peanut allergy a peanut and trying to pass it off as a jelly bean.

BTW-- I only carry red licorice whips... Smiley

I doubt if that crack was meant to be at anyone's expense.  It was a play on the guy's name.  Why would anyone in particular be offended by that, unless their name was also "Hung"?

Ever wonder about those people who spend $2.00 a piece on those little bottles of Evian water?
Try spelling Evian backwards.

A few words from The Bride...

"Looked dead, didn't I ?
Well I wasn't.
But it wasn't for lack of trying, I can tell you that.
Actually the last bullet put me in a coma.
A coma I was to lie in for five years.
When I woke up,
I went on what the movie advertisements refer to as a "Roaring Rampage of Revenge."
I roared and I rampaged and I got bloody satisfaction.
I've killed 33 people to get to this point right now.
I have only one more.
The last one.
The one I'm driving to right now.
The only one left.
And when I arrive at my destination...
I'm gonna Kill..."
