I just contacted the casino to find out when tickets will go on sale.  I'm going to request off for the Friday and Staurday of the show and finally make one this year!

I called the hotel and they said that it was a free concert in the Rock Lounge and to keep checking the website.  But as you know, that could always change depending on how good the source was!   :)

I received a reply to an e-mail I sent the casino.  It indicated that the venue might be somewhat small, and that as it is free, it is also first come, first served.  The e-mail suggested I show up early.

As a Vegas resident, I can tell you the Rocks lounge is pretty small and the custom
of Red Rock casino is to do free concerts there !!!  So if you are going, get there
EARLY as it will fill up fast........ the show back in May here was at a bigger venue
and it almost sold out so do the math !!!

If anyone wants to hook up with me for the show, send me an e-mail and let's go
out and support the boys in the Glitter City !!!

JG

PS- My condolences to all you Wolverine Fans- I understand that Ann Arbor High
School needs an extra practice squad team  :-)

Since no one likes to wait, here's a little bit from LV....

To start it out, I have to mention that I heard a rumor....that during sound check, "someone" complained that the music was too loud!  For those of you who have never been to The Red Rock Casino, the Rock Lounge is a club inside the casino that has the front part open, so the people in the casino can actually see and hear if they can't get a seat inside the club.  Don't you think it should be loud?  It is after all, a ROCK CONCERT!  All in all, it worked out in the end.
The Red Rock facility is something you must experience.  You never have to leave the grounds.  There is everything you could ever need there!  Restaurants, night clubs, a spa, movie theater, bowling, a spa, live music, and of course a spa!  I didn't get to spend enough time in it, but I highly recommend it!

Kenny and Dennis were the "men" by getting there early and saving a front row seat for me!  Thanks again guys!

The concert was awesome!  I can't say that I ever heard A Night Like This played in this manner!  The best version I have heard to date!  It is my favorite Romantics song, so I am by no means complaining about the length of the song!!!! :)It must have lasted at least 15 minutes and included some extra harmonica playing that was amazing!  You missed a great tune for sure!  I know that Mymeka is wishing she was there for that one especially! ;)

I don't remember exactly how the set  went, but I did get a copy of it.  I think it deviated a little bit.  They didn't do Out Of My Mind ,  A N L T was done instead. The encore included I Need You, and Tonight.

As you can see, that's pretty much how it went!  Stone Pony is now in my top 3!  I never heard it before the Detroit show and I have to say that it is just getting better and better every time I hear it!  Mike does an incredible job with it!

Dennis was nice enough to go hunting through the casino after the show to bring back a few posters very suitable for hanging!  We now have a few more memories to add to our collection.
I think the guys took some photos.  I guess we will have to wait and see!  I did too much dancing to take anything worth while.  I'll see what I can muster up if they don't come through for us! :)

What made this concert stand out for me was the amount of jamming Coz and Mike did.  Solodka is right, the version of Night Lke This was one of the longest I've heard.  I think that because the Romantics were the only band on the bill it allowed them the opportunity to play as long as they wanted.  I stood right in front of Coz and was amazed by how hard and skillfully he plays.  He not only works the strings on his guitar, but also the tremelo bar, switches and knobs, as well as the peddles on the floor (I don't know what those are called or what they do).  To say they rocked is too trite.  This show was really high energy.

An added plus was having the opportunity to meet solodka and johnnyglitter.  It was great having these two to enjoy the concert with.  And, I want to thank the Romantics for signing my poster and putting up with with my requests to have pictures taken with them.  It was so appreciated.  dennis

Here's my review of the Vegas concert.......... I got to meet Dennis and Solodka, which was the first
benefit.  It's always a pleasure to share musical experiences with others who have the same tastes
and appreciation of true talent.........

My band had played a biker gig the weekend before and Billy Wimble, who replaced Wayne Kramer in
the MC5 for awhile, was in attendance !  I invited him to the show as he knew the Romantics personally
from gigs way back when; he was pleased to learn about it and was first in line with his wife when
Dennis and I got to the show.  We camped out right in front of Coz up against the stage and once they
started playing, I knew it was going to be a special night !!!

I've seen the band seven times now and never saw Coz play better........ as a guitar player myself, I
really appreciate his thumb-picking style, which is harder and more finesse-oriented than using a regular pick....... he and Mike really rocked out;  "A Night Like This" was probably the highlight of the show as it was extended and the crowd got into the slow bluesy feel of the song.

Coz was LOUD; I loved being right in front of his amps although it made it a bit harder to hear the rest
of the band, but who cares ?!  I'm still having guitar withdrawal seven days later !!!  They did a totally
jamming version of "Come See Me", which fits their style perfectly.  I miss "Boom, Boom" though;
perhaps in the future they can resurrect it.....

After the show, we met Chloe, Brad's wife, who was lots of fun to talk to.....if you haven't done so, go
to thehandcuffs.com; that is the band she and Brad are in.   I got another quick guitar lesson from Mike
as my band is learning two Romantics tunes.  We stayed up with Wally until 3am talking about music,
music and more music !!!

As usual, it was a great night from start to finish !  Thanks to Solodka for being the "Hostess with the
Mostess" as she graciously went above and beyond the call of duty making sure Dennis and I were
"dialed in"........ thanks to Wally for the exta LaBatt's; it was gone the next day at band practice !!!

If you were in FL for tonight's show, you might get to hear it!  I think there might be just that in the mix!  One never knows until it actually goes down though!  We know how that one works!!!

Any you are both quite welcome!  I'm glad that everyone had a great time and I can't wait to do it all again!  I love Vegas!  It's always great when you hit a jackpot on a slot machine too!  It didn't stink, that's for sure! ;D  And I didn't give it all back either!
