Been a while since it was worth posting anything on this thread, but it looks like we actually have a team this year. Who would have predicted that the Lions would be 6 and 2 half way through the season. In celebration, I think I'll make my first pot of chili of the season for next week's game. A 4:15 kickoff is perfect. Gonna have a couple buds from work over, and it will be a dress rehearsal for the super bowl. (whether the Lions are in it or not). That interception return by Shaun Rogers was way too much fun to watch!

Oldfriend, maybe you better have a dress rehearsal for the Thanksgiving Day game with Green Bay first.  Don't forget, it's hard to get to the Super Bowl as a wild card team, and the Pack is ahead in the NFC North... :D

Hmmm.....Mr. Glitter might have to cash in a winning ticket soon!!! Dennis, did you get one too?  Maybe we all should have while visiting LV and The Romantics!

My dress rehearsal this Sunday is just my making chili and some other food as I do for the Superbowl. I didn't mean that the Lions would be in the Super Bowl, although stranger things have happened, like when the Red Sox beat the Yankees 4 straight in the playoffs after being down 3 games to none. Green Bay looks really tough, and the Thanksgiving day game should be a good indicator of who will win the division.

Yup, the Thanksgiving Day game will finally not be a "Turkey Bowl".  I'm trying to get the MOTHER-IN-LAW to move dinner back until after the game...right now she's got dinner scheduled for about the middle of the second half.   [smiley=evil.gif]

Boy, the Lions really played lousy yesterday. The defense couldn't get it done and too many turnovers. Two games behind Green Bay is going to be tough to make up. We might be shooting for a wild card now.

Hopefully, this won't mean that they are reverting back to last years Lions!

The next few games will tell the story, with the Packers and Cowboys on the schedule.

It's over. They will be lucky to finish at 500 now. I have to admit they had me fooled half way through the season, but the real Lions have emerged. Now, I hope the Packers go all the way and that the Patriots get knocked out in the first playoff game they play.

i must say, i thought they were on there way to a good one. they need to work on the offensive line. do some defense work. they have the good targets to get the job done but kitna needs more then 2 seconds to toss the ball. they are so close to turning that corner.

Sorry guys....my Chargers worked over the Lions today.  The Lions looked like they were just not into it.

The real Lions are back. After starting at 6 and 2, they WILL finish the season 6 and 10. The Lions defense is about the worst in the league.

All I can say is that the Dolphins finally won a game this season!  I would say that they were worse!

Title: Re: Detroit Lions
Post by oldfriend on Dec 18th, 2007 at 11:29pm
The difference is that the Dolphins will bounce back in a year or two because they have management that has some football sense. The Lions on the other hand, show that they are clueless by keeping Matt Millen around and being so lousy for so long. Don't look for anything to change any time soon in Detroit.

oldfriend, the offense isnt to bad. well they need help on the line but if they got some descent work from the defense they can go far into the playoffs. no doubt detroit hasnt been good for so long. they had the sanders era. but the offensive weapons are in place they need a line to give time to pass there way to the endzone. i wondered why matt millen was there 2 to 3 years ago and hes still there. get rid of millen and tighten the defense i bet those lions will bite  :D

Well, the Dolphins haven't been looking that bad this year!  Last week's loss wasn't pretty for sure!  We will have to see how they play today!  It's a beautiful day today, maybe I will go to the game~ :)

Lions are still perfect! I have confidence that they can finish the season at 0-16.

Even the great Brett Favre couldn't help the Lions.

Title: Re: Detroit Lions
Post by BrewCity on Nov 17th, 2008 at 11:55pm
0-16 is looking pretty possible, oldfriend.  That was an inspired prediction.

I went up to Green Bay yesterday for the Packers-Bears game.  That 37-3 complete domination was a lot of fun.  The Bears fans all left Lambeau Field early with their little Bears tails between their legs.

im confident as well the lions will have that magical 0-16 record. they are carrying the millan curse in full force. no favre wouldnt be able to help nor could a joe montana. i dont think i can say much my rams are so close to the lion club. how nice it would be to see some magic today and have the lions upset the titains.

Title: Re: Detroit Lions
Post by PIRATE on Dec 27th, 2008 at 1:44am
WELL IT LOOKS LIKE A TRIP TO GREENBAY WILL BRING THEM THERE 0-16 RECORD. NOT THAT THE LIONS HAVE THAT SOLID TEAM, BUT ALWAYS SEEM TO HAVE A TEAM THAT SHOULD ALWAYS FINISH 8-8..... THATS WHAT IT SEEMS THEY SHOULD FINISH A SEASON FOR MANY YEARS WITH THE PLAYERS THEY PUT ON THE FIELD ON WEEK 1. BUT FOR THEM TO FINISH THIS WAY I WOULD HAVE NEVER OF THOUGHT IT COULD HAPPEN. BUT LOOK AT THE DOLPHINS AND FALCONS THIS YEAR..... IF THEY CAN DO IT WELL LOOK AT A LION PLAYOFF RUN FOR 2009.

Told ya back in Octobe. 0-16! What a disgrace. The Ford family needs to sell that team NOW!.

Title: Re: Detroit Lions
Post by PIRATE on Dec 28th, 2008 at 11:25pm
first they may need to sell some cars. then sell the team. hhhhmmmmm thats a great idea sell the team and they wont need that bail out money.

History was made today as the Detroit Lambs became the 1st team ever to go 0 and 16 in the NFL......
My heart goes out to all you loyal fans who have suffered through the years with bad ownership ( the
clueless Fords ), bad management ( how did Millen last for SEVEN years ?! ), bad coaching ( fill in the
blank here ) and bad players ( fill in the blank here as well ).

The only time in my life I had to experience this as a fan was in the mid 70's when the Washington Capitals set a similar record for having the worst regular season ever in the NHL.  However; they were an expansion team in their first year and eventually got better after a few years.  So, my question is- Detroit, what is your excuse ?!

Personally, I would boycott the team and everything associated with it until the owners actually start
making some good decisions and turn things around.   Spend your hard-earned dollars on the
Wings, Pistons and Tigers - all proven winners in the last few years !

At least they will get the top draft pick next year.....besides, they only have one direction to go and
that is up !   Hang in there, Lambs fans, and best wishes for an eventually competitive team.........

JG

Rumor is the Lions are part of the Federal "Bailout" and they will get millions to help rebuild the team and they already tried to resign George Plimpton, but he had already died. There's always next year.

IM SURE THAT IS HISTORY THEY DO NOT WANT TO REPEAT. I BELIEVE THEY WILL WIN 1 GAME THIS YEAR BUT I AM NOT IMPRESSED WITH THERE OFF SEASON ACTIVITY EVEN THOUGH THERES STILL SOME TIME TO GO. LETS SEE WHAT STRINGS THEY PULL IN THE DRAFT.

We have a quarterback in Stafford. If they don't start him when the regualr season starts, (lack of pro experience or not), they are crazy. He looks calm and collected out there, with a rifle arm.
