Title: Manitowoc Show -reviews, setlists and pictures!!
Post by skarbmiz on Jun 19th, 2006 at 8:27am
Just got back from one great show in Manitowoc....damn, four star show!!!
The weather was perfect, the rain held off, and the guys were teriffic!!
The crowd was really into it, a lot younger very energetic crowd than we had expected. It was great to see Brad at the drums, he added energy and some stage show also... havent seen him for a few years...back in Chicago with The Elvis Brothers about 8 or 10 years ago ... hard to estimate the size, Id guess between 500 and 1000. Was definately worth the 3 hour drive even if we didnt get home till 2AM and had to be at work today at 8! We were up front and got some pretty good pictures, there seemed to be 8 or 10 other big fans in the front with us but we didnt get the time to talk too much. We couldnt get a set list,... anyone else out there happen to get one or the songs down?

The setlist as it appeared on stage was as follows:

Rock You Up
Midnight to Six Man
When I Look In Your Eyes
61/49
One In A Million
Devil In Me
Come See Me
Night Like This
Out of My Mind
Talkin' in Your Sleep
When the Angels
New Kinda Pain
Tomboy
Little White Lies
First in Line
She's Got Everything
What I Like

(Encore)
I Need You
Tonight
Tallahassee Lassie

I believe this to be correct.

The Set List Included:
Rock You Up
Midnight to Six Man
When I Look In your Eyes
61/49
One In A Million
Devil In Me
Come See Me
Night Like This
Out Of My Mind (Into My Head)
Talking In Your Sleep
When The Angels (Hear Me Callin')
New Kinda Pain
Tomboy
Little White Lies
First In Line
She's Got Everything
What I Like About You

Not necessarily in that order, but I'm sure Brew will correct me on this if I am wrong~
Also, I think there were a few thousand people in attendance, but since I wasn't there, I wouldn't know too much about that one!
Looking forward to some good photos soon!

You guys have been home for a day now and we haven't heard anything yet!  Hopefully, everyone got home safely!

I left Manitowoc after the show and headed "up north".  I'm on vacation for the rest of the week.  I took a ton of photos, but  I need to load them into my computer so that I can edit them before uploading them on the internet.   Just be patient.

A few thoughts on the show.  The guys put on a great show, but I thought they were a bit rocky compared to other shows that I've seen them do.  They "reworked" One In A Million so that the verses were done as a ballad with pretty much just Wally playing and then on the chorus the rest of the band would jump in.  I enjoyed it and would like to see a recorded version of it.  Wally played a lot more bass than I can recall ever seeing him do.  It was the first time that I've heard them play "Tallahassee Lassie" since 1986 at Summerfest.  The organizers of the show announced that they set an attendance record for the show, due in part to the Romantics.  Bookies and Brew are cool people.  Evidently, the 1980's never left Manitowoc (too many mullets!).

Hey!  I am not on dial-up and it took me about 4 hours to do all of the photos that I put up!  Don't feel so bad!  But we appreciate what you have!  If you want to bring them over I can do them for you if you want!   :)

Timster, thanks for the kind words.  We had a blast at the show--it was great that they played a long set--about 95 minutes!  The new rendition of "One in a Million" was pretty cool--it was really guitar-heavy compared to the record.  I liked that a lot.  Also, Mike sang the second verse to "What I Like About You"!  (I think Wally needed a little break).  Other highlights of the show were "Tomboy" (I love that song live) leading into the section toward the end where they strung together the old classics:

Tomboy
Little White Lies
First in Line
She's Got Everything
What I Like

After the show my wife & I got some pictures with the band (sorry, I don't have a digital camera yet) and had some great chats with Brad, Chloe and Wally, who all stuck around for a long time after the show.  Their friendliness and hospitality was really appreciated.  Once again, an awesome time!

And, I was happy to see a lively Coz on stage--he was energized!  I haven't seen him jumpin' around so much in years! [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

Coz was back to using a Strat.

Did he ever get that great early 60's strat returned that was pinched in 04?

That guitar sounded incredible, hopefully it melted the hands off the person that took it.

Coz has always used strats for most of their live set. The Les Paul usually came out for "A Night Like This".
