Title: The Handcuffs
Post by BrewCity on Jun 4th, 2006 at 12:55am
Since the old Handcuffs thread seems to be missing, I started a new one.

I saw the Handcuffs in their first-ever Milwaukee show last night.  As expected, they were excellent!  Brad is, as you all know by now, an unbelievable drummer.  With the Handcuffs, he gets to show off a little more--(I, personally, would like to see even more showing off)--that guy is   i n c r e d i b l e !  Chloe is quite a singer, too.  They played in a really small, but nice, bar on the edge of downtown.  Although there were only about 30 people there, it was a lively and intimate setting.  My wife & I got a few chances to chat with both Brad & Chloe, and enjoyed the show immensely.

I picked up the cd at the show--two thumbs up on that, too!

If you haven't checked out their video yet.........

Cool, Brew!  I would  like to see the Handcuffs play, too.  Chloe and Brad are great people!  I'm kind of hoping they can do a Michigan gig sometime this summer...

Brew,
Glad to hear you enjoyed it! I've loved Brad's drumming since the 1st time I saw him! :-)  He and Chloe put on an excellent show together. :-)

LMK-- I'm going to their Chicago show on the 10th. (driving up the 9th)
Would you like to join us?  It's Chloe's birthday that weekend, too! ;-)

The show was awesome! :-)  I like their new lineup! :-)
Brad and Chloe, as usual, were great and we helped Chloe celebrate her birthday for the 2nd year in a row.
This has become a new tradition for us!
(Next year, my brother will be graduating from Residency that same weekend!)

Their new CD is really great, so make sure you check out some of their clips on their myspace page:

By the way, they are doing an online contest for the "Last Band Standing"....
go to this website and vote for them! I think you can vote once a day... :-)

BTW-- My friend in Chicago has heard good reviews on the megabus.com

The cost for a RT ticket from Detroit to Chicago is something like $2 - $40... Cheaper than a tank of gas! :-)
I'm hoping to go back later this summer to see them again and to visit the summer festivals!

Solodka,
I'm finally back in town. Trying to keep off of the computer during the summer months, but look for me on the Yahoo IM--going through some backgammon withdrawal! :-)

Uhhhhh, solodka, that's not her long hair--that's a fur collar.   :P

OH MY!  I guess I need some glasses!  Well, the photo was small!  At least it wasn't some kind of animal!  But now I know what long hair on her would look like!  It was Ellie May style pigtails in my head!  Thanks for pointing that out!  Somehow I  thought I could have been mistaken! :)

Yes, that is what makes us Midwesterners tough.
Wind Chill Factors and Heat Indexes.
Sadly, I will miss this show due to family matters.

ok kids, some pretty kewl handcuffs stuff.

today while i was watching a preseason game between the chicago white sox and the chicago cubs, they played quite a long piece of the handcuffs, "all shine on", when going to commercial break!!  and the announcer even said "chicago's
own handcuffs"!

also, if you are in the chicago area or feel like taking a road trip, don't forget about tuesday's (march 6) show with the charms at
the note
(1565 n. milwaukee , chicago illinois, across from the double door)

www.thenotechicago.com

the handcuffs showtime: 10 p.m.
$8 in advance; $10 at the door. 21 and over
(sounds like there is a song title in there?!) ;)

I'm really bummed,
I missed the Charms show in Detroit-- had too much going on on Saturday . :-(

Hopefully, they will be back here soon and maybe the Handcuffs will venture out of their Wndy City....
Wish it was summer already so that I can road trip!!!  It's too bad this wasn't last week, when I was driving through Chicago!

Well well well kiddies...
It just doesn't get much better than Saturday's IPO
(International Pop Overthrow) lineup...

First up in my opinion one of Milwaukee's Finest
The Lackloves
with a set featuring a few Blow Pops (Jarvis' former band) tunes,
a spot on cover of "Elenore" and closing with an amazing
version of "Across The Universe"
Followed by (one of) Dag Juhlin's band
The Greenwoods
A very early Who/Townsend feel it it.
Some amazing guitar work from him as well.

THEN... The Handcuffs
Brad, Chloe and the kids ON their game!
Chloe working the bullhorn well during a few songs.
Featured alot of "Model For A Revolution" CD.
Great set puntuated by a great cover of "Hanging On The Telephone"

Next up was Pezband
(mentioned perhaps some dates this year with Dwight Twilley)
Did a set that reached back into some bluesier roots as well.
Closing the show was off Broadway.
One of my all time favorite bands.
Actually did 3 encores of 2 songs each.

I'm still grinning 24 hours later.
Great to see Brad and Chloe.
2 of my favorite people on the planet.
I miss those kids.
Perhaps I'll post a few pictures of it all.
Needed my "fix" with all that has been going on recently.
